Method
Everything on this site is recomputed from archived Federal Register material. No number on any page is typed by hand; if it appears, a build script put it there from files you can re-check.
Sources
| Source | What it provides | Window |
|---|---|---|
| Commerce/ITA monthly "Initiation of Five-Year (Sunset) Reviews" notices, Federal Register API | 44 notices, 450 case rows — the ledger | Jan 2023 – October 2026 |
| Commerce/ITA "Advance Notification of Sunset Review" notices | the Next month panel (7 cases for November 2026) | Jun 2025 – Oct 2026 |
| Commerce final-results and continuation notices | 135 result notices touching 213 case numbers | Jan 2026 – Oct 2026 |
| 19 CFR 351.218 via the eCFR API | every statutory deadline quoted on How it works | version in force 2026-10-01 |
| USITC explainer and timetable pages | the two-agency split and the official-resource links | archived 2026-10-22 |
All raw responses are archived with SHA-256 hashes in this site's evidence library; collection scripts are included so the run can be reproduced.
How the rows are parsed
Initiation notices carry a fixed table (Commerce case No., ITC case No., Country, Product, contact). The parser keeps the section each row appeared under; for older notices that state section headings outside the table, the section is taken from the case-number prefix (A‑ = antidumping, C‑ = countervailing). Product strings keep the review-round marker ("(1st Review)") as a separate field. Every row the parser cannot match is written to an anomaly report instead of being silently dropped — the current run has zero unexplained anomalies.
Cross-checks and known discrepancies
Each advance-notice row should reappear in the corresponding initiation notice within one month (the regulation allows initiation up to 30 days before the anniversary month). In the current run 215 of 225 advance rows match that rule; 8 more are the November 2026 forward notice, which is genuinely ahead of the ledger. The remaining two are real inconsistencies in the official documents themselves:
- A-570-957 vs A-570-956 — the July 2026 advance notification lists A-570-957 (seamless carbon and alloy steel pipe from China, 3rd review); the August 2026 initiation notice lists the same product and review as A-570-956. The ledger follows the initiation notice.
- A-517-806 — the January 2026 advance notification listed this case (prestressed concrete steel wire strand from Saudi Arabia), but no initiation notice in the archived window contains it. The site makes no claim about this case's status.
One advance-notice row (aluminum foil from Oman, A-523-815) was dropped by the parser because the archived table split its cells; the same case is fully captured from the October 2026 initiation notice, so no case is lost.
What this site does not have
- The full inventory of AD/CVD orders in effect (several hundred orders) and a month-by-month forward calendar beyond next month: the official sources that could support it (ITA's data dashboards and the ACCESS portal) do not offer a machine-readable download that this project could verify; ITA's legacy sunset schedule page now redirects to an unrelated form, and the USITC's linked schedule file dates from 2013.
- ITC-side institution and determination notices as separately collected data. Commerce-side notices cover the same cases; the ITC case number is printed in each ledger row.
- Result notices before January 2026 and advance notices before June 2025. The windows are recorded per collection; nothing before a window is implied.
- Any search-volume or traffic figures. None are used anywhere on the site.
Update policy
The site is a static snapshot: "Data checked against the Federal Register on 2026-10-22" in the footer is the snapshot date. The rebuild path (collect → parse → recompute stats → build → verify against the archived baseline) is scripted end to end, so refreshing the snapshot is one pipeline run, and every page of the ledger carries the publication date of the notice each row came from.
Figures
The bar field on the home page (monthly initiations) and the country chart are generated by script from the same recomputed stats as the text — same archive, same parse, no separate numbers. Their alt text restates the underlying counts.
Quote policy
Legal quotations are checked verbatim against the archived eCFR section file before the site is built; a build that fails the check does not ship.
